Why we do this work

When owner-led businesses and mission-led organisations thrive, communities thrive.
We make leading them exhilarating and commercially sound.

Exhilarating Business™ - it's what we do, and believe.

When owner‑led businesses and mission‑led organisations thrive, communities thrive.

Leading one is not easy. Cash swings, stalled growth, people friction, compliance pressure, and relentless risk can turn excitement into exhaustion. Carrying it all makes focus hard, and life harder.

Strategy, finance, and the people at the centre move together. Clear thinking under pressure produces a strategy worth running. Financial rigour makes it achievable. Capability and capacity make it happen. The work is holding the three in alignment. That’s what produces clear choices, steady rhythms, and clean numbers.

Businesses become exciting and commercially sound.

Organisations become exhilarating to run and measurably more effective.

Exhilarating Business™ – it’s what we do!

Why Stoked

Since the 1990s, we have helped owner‑led businesses align strategy, people, and numbers. We began by embedding C‑suite finance discipline, then applied the same rigour across marketing, sales, leadership, risk, and succession.

Our work helps leaders rediscover the feeling that started it all: clear, capable, and commercially confident. When the strategy is sharp, the numbers are clean, and the team has the capability to execute, momentum compounds. That’s what we install.

We now apply the same discipline to mission-led organisations. The challenge is similar: make every resource count, direct more impact to the front line, deliver more for the people the work exists to serve.

In surf and skate circles, stoked describes the thrill of the ride; excited and exhilarated.

For our clients, it’s the feeling when strategy is clear, numbers are clean, and the team is in flow. We have seen it in owner‑led businesses and mission‑led organisations alike. Working with us you’ll experience it too.

Exhilarating Business™ – it’s what we do.

Who we've supported

Our work has spanned construction, manufacturing, retail, hospitality, professional services, medical, trades, logistics, transport, allied health, tourism, not-for-profits, schools, and charities.

We’ve worked with every type of enterprise from a regional construction company where profits and enjoyment soared once the directors got back to site, a distribution partnership where strategy disagreement was driven by ownership misalignment, through to a hospitality business carrying debt that distracted the owner from focusing on growth, mission-led organisation whose fundraising was amplified once the board and executive aligned their vision, and a third-generation family retailer whose rent increase led to a diagnostic discovery of profit growth.

Different sectors, same pattern. The presented problem wasn’t the real one.

Trusted across Australia.

For over 36 years, we have worked with owner‑led businesses and mission‑led organisations across Australia.

Meet Dean

Dean Townsend – Principal Advisor, Strategy & Performance

Starting as a trainee in 1990, Dean earned his Chartered Accountant credentials, led finance for a multinational engineering business, and then embedded executive-level finance discipline in owner-operated businesses.

Today, he delivers integrated work where strategy, finance, and the people at the centre move together. The result is execution quality that holds. Clear thinking under pressure. Decisions made without thrash. A working rhythm that leaders can sustain rather than survive.

Most mornings start with a “board meeting” (out surfing). Many afternoons end with “professional development” (golf). Serious about outcomes. Personal, real and genuine.

Dean holds a Bachelor of Business and is an Accredited Member of Mindshop

Are you ready for a conversation?

If something in your business or organisation isn’t working the way it should, a 45-minute working session with Dean is the place to start.

We’ll look at what’s actually going on across the three things that move together: strategy, finance, and the people at the centre.

You’ll leave with two immediate actions to take this week.

If there’s a mutual fit, together we’ll map a pragmatic 90‑day plan.

If not, you leave with the actions.

No cost. No obligation.

Direct. Candid. Practical. No slides. No sideline commentary.
