Exhilarating Business™ - it's what we do, and believe
When owner‑led businesses and mission‑led organisations thrive, communities thrive.
Leading one is not easy. Cash swings, stalled growth, people friction, compliance pressure, and relentless risk can turn excitement into exhaustion. Carrying it all makes focus hard, and life harder.
We blend world‑class strategy principles, CFO‑grade finance discipline, and flow‑state neuroscience so leaders make clear choices, run steady rhythms, and keep numbers clean.
Businesses become exciting and commercially sound.
Organisations become exhilarating to run and measurably more effective.
Exhilarating Business™ – it’s what we do!
Why Stoked
Since the 1990s, we have helped owner‑led businesses align strategy, people, and numbers. We began by embedding C‑suite finance discipline, then applied the same rigor across marketing, sales, leadership, risk, and succession.
Our work helps leaders rediscover the feeling that started it all: energised, in control, and commercially confident. When the numbers are clean and the path is clear, execution gets easier. We install clarity, a sustainable operating cadence, and decision hygiene so execution stays sharp and momentum compounds.
We now apply the same discipline to mission‑led organisations. The challenge is similar: make every resource count and direct more impact to the front line, including better services, better outcomes, more people helped, more students learning, more research advanced, and more assistance where it is needed.
The same three‑way link drives clarity, confidence and control:
> World‑class strategy principles,
> CFO‑grade finance discipline, and
> Flow-state neuroscience for peak performance.
In surf and skate circles, stoked describes the thrill of the ride—excited and exhilarated. For us, it is the feeling when strategy is clear, numbers are clean, and the team is in flow. We have seen it in owner‑led businesses and mission‑led organisations alike.
Exhilarating Business™ – it’s what we do.

Meet Dean
Dean Townsend – Principal Advisor, Strategy & Performance
Starting as a trainee in 1990, Dean earned his Chartered Accountant credentials, led finance for a multinational engineering business, and then embedded executive‑level finance discipline in owner‑operated businesses. Today he combines world‑class strategy principles, CFO‑grade finance discipline, and flow‑state neuroscience to help owner‑led businesses and mission‑led organisations lead with clarity, operate in flow, and build sustainable momentum.
His work integrates strategy, revenue generation, efficient operations, pragmatic finance, risk, and leadership. He lifts execution quality without burnout by unlocking personal and team flow dynamics, installing decision hygiene, and setting a clean operating cadence.
Most mornings start with a “board meeting” (out surfing). Many afternoons end with “professional development” (golf). Serious about outcomes. Personal, real and genuine.
Dean holds a Bachelor of Business and is an Accredited Member of Mindshop
Let's Work Together.
Which do you need most right now: clarity, confidence, or control, or all three?
Book a hands‑on working session to discuss the three levers that stall growth: focus, cadence, and decision flow. In this 45-minute session with Dean, he will help you pinpoint what’s clogging progress and set two immediate actions to increase focus, remove complexity, or improve decision hygiene.
If there’s a mutual fit, together we’ll map a pragmatic 90‑day plan.
If not, you leave with the actions, no obligation, no hurt feelings.
